Government Grants FAQ Page
How has the recent
slowdown in the U.S. economy and continued fears of terrorism affected
access to grants?
The only result is an increase in grant spending by the Federal
Government. Government grants are an excellent method by which
governments assist individuals and strive to kick start increased
economic growth.
How difficult is it to obtain a grant?
The difficulty of obtaining grants depends on the type of grant
and the value of the grant. There is always a process involved,
such as writing a proposal, letter or filling in an application.
Many grants are relatively easy to obtain.
Many say education grants and government loans are the only way
to get funding for college. Is this true?
This is not true. In addition to government education grants
and low interest education loans, there is an enormous variety and
quantity of scholarships available to all Americans. Many people
incorrectly believe that scholarships are only for the "brilliant"
people. This is not the case. Scholarships are offered by
thousands of organizations and individuals, for thousands of
reasons. Often, these reasons do not depend on high grades and
test scores. Have you ever thought of Burger King helping you
through school? Don't laugh - they provide millions of dollars in
scholarships every year!
How long will it take to get a grant?
The length of time largely depends on what type of grant you are
applying for. It can also depend on the monetary value of the
grant. Generally, expect the process to take between three weeks
to two months.
How will my poor credit history affect my ability to get a
grant?
A bad credit history has no impact at all on your application for
grant money. Grant money is different from a loan. Grant money
(from the Government) comes out of your tax dollars and does not
need to be repaid.
What types of grants are available?
There are many types of grants available, and these grants are
available to any U.S. citizen. For an example of some broad
federal government grant categories,

Are grants available for expanding an already successful
business?

availability of small business grants.

Can I receive free money for health care?
Absolutely. Included in the Able Grant Seekers Resource is an
entire section devoted specifically to healthcare. People are
often surprised at how much money is available for healthcare. For
example, how many people know that many of the big Pharmaceutical
companies participate in a free prescription program for
low-income Americans?
Is it possible to receive more than one grant at a time?
Absolutely. Many people have several projects going at once, each
being funded through a variety of grants.
Once I download the Able Resource, can I print it?
You certainly can. Like any other piece of intellectual property,
we hope that you will not copy and distribute it to others.
However, if you know of an individual or family in need who would
benefit from the information but cannot afford to purchase and
access it, please do share the information. Our goal is to make it
easier for those who need and could well use grants to have the
information they need to access them.
